President N.A. Nazarbayev aims at improving national education. Education must be competitive, high-quality, so that graduates of Kazakhstani schools can easily continue their studies in foreign universities.
The main goal of updated content of secondary education is defined: to form and develop an educated, creative, competent and competitive personality who is able to live in a dynamically developing environment and ready for self-actualization both for own interests and in interests of society.
Due to the updated content, the quality of education is determined by the level of staff training. The introduction of innovative forms and methods of teaching into the modern education system makes teachers improve personal and professional competence.
Professional courses for teachers help me realize that changes which occur in the world require flexibility from a teacher and willingness to change. I have been convinced that the teacher is not only a source of knowledge, but also an active participant in the educational process. The main task of the teacher is to involve every child in the learning process, listen to him and make him an assistant of the learning process. The times call for having skills of modern ac- tive technologies user. Today’s student has good computer skills, understands technology. Teacher’s task is to direct student’s skills in the right direction, to give the cue how to gain knowledge, to interest him/her. The emphasis of up- dated educational content is not focused on the gained knowledge, but on the process of its application.
This course taught me to understand in details the updated curriculum. Every day was productive, the theory was associated with practice, thus I can operate with such concepts as «evaluation criteria: formative and summative ones», «descriptors», «rubrics», «differential learning», «levels of cognitive
skills», «scoring scheme», «short-term training plan», «medium-term training plan» and «long-term training plan».
Cooperation with colleagues made me understand the essence of active and interactive teaching methods, as well as the importance of evaluation criteria.
Seminars conducted by Nadiya Kadyrovna promote the development of skills in setting the lesson objectives, levels of cognitive skills, evaluation cri- teria and descriptors. We learned to make tasks, rubrics and to plan a lesson.
